I've been noticing for several weeks that I can't manually focus on one of my lenses. Then the last two days, when I try to shoot in the aperture, shutter, or manual mode, the pics come out way too dark, even though my meter in manual mode say's its right on. So today I took the camera and the lens to Christian Photo to get their opinion. The lens housing is pulling apart, apparently from a drop or something. I left it with them for repair and it is going to cost me between $150 and $250. They said the camera also needs repaired.
The camera was purchased on ebay from a store that goes by various names, including Cyber Discount Warehouse and Shop Sunshine, along with a 3-year platinum warranty from a company called RepairTech. I tried contacting them, only to find they are out of business and I'm out of luck. So now I'm going to have to pay out of my pocket to get it fixed too. Nikon is estimating around $170 to repair it. So I'm (1) going to be without a camera for awhile, and (2) I'm going to have to possibly shell out in the neighborhood $420. There goes my project 365.
UPDATE: My Dear Husband played around with the camera and found that the exposure adjustment had been changed. Put it back at zero and the camera is working great. Yea Roger!!! You are fantastic.

Weekend happenings

Been a busy weekend. On top of bringing work home and spending 11 hours reviewing RFP proposals for work, I did manage to work some on my digital photography class, visited with family, partied at Beaverdale's fall festival with family and help celebrate a nephew's 21st birthday, and babysat grandchild #4 on Saturday and Sunday. He was sleeping today when his parents dropped him off and slept until about 10 minutes before his parents showed up. I did manage to get a few cute pictures of him yesterday.

New Blog Header
Did you notice my new blog header? I created it with supplies from my August Scrap Girls monthly club, which is called HisNHers by Angie Briggs. I just love this kit. If you would like to get started digitally scrapping, you've got to go check out ScrapGirls.com, especially Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed.
Friday I took a day of vacation to spend some time with Luke. After picking him up at Grandma O's, we stopped at McDonalds and had lunch. Jeremy, Sarah, and Jaren joined us. When Luke and I got home, Grandpa was picking the grapes to start a batch of wine. Luke wanted to help and I scrapped the above picture various supplies from Scrap Girls, including Mandy Stewards' ScrapSimple Scribbles alpha, Syndey Nuckles ScrapSimple cardstock, Trish Yochum's ScrapSimple wine cellar, various grunge overlays, and brushes by Brandie Valenzuela (stamp a date) and Ariadna Wiczling (stamp a date).

Month of Memories

I'm participating in "A Month of Memories" class over at Scrapgirls.com, taught by Mary Elizabeth O'Toole. Yesterday was Day 1, and we could take a picture of anything, and this is the picture and layout I created. I had forgotten all about the class starting until late in the day and when I remembered I took this picture of Lukey with his boo-boo on his face.
I had had everybody over for dinner, and the kids were out in the living room playing, drawing, and watching TV while us big folks were sitting around the table in the kitchen. Luke comes running in crying and I picked him up. Carrie became concerned immediately because that was his I'm scared cry. I got him calmed down enough to realize he had somehow hurt himself. He had a small cut under his lower lip and a line on the side of his face. We had followed his sisters into the "office" (the room where my husband and I each have our computers set up) while they got a stapler. They left the room but he climbed up in grandpa's chair and was typing on the computer (probably trying to find Thomas), when somehow the chair spinned, moved or something and he fell hitting his face on the computer hutch.
